According to his family, Jeff passed away early Wednesday morning after being taken off life support at a hospital in Southern California.

His son, Jojo Garcia, confirmed the news in a statement posted to Instagram, writing: “With a very heavy heart, I would like to inform everybody that my father, Jeff Garcia, has passed away.”

A Decline in Health

Jeff had been dealing with several serious health issues in recent months. According to TMZ, he suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this year and fell during the incident, hitting his head. He was able to recover, but weeks ago, he experienced a stroke.

In late November, he was hospitalized with pneumonia and discharged after a short stay. However, his condition worsened again in early December.

On Monday, he went to the hospital with breathing difficulties, and by Tuesday, one of his lungs collapsed. He passed away the next day, surrounded by family and friends.

Jeff had reportedly canceled shows recently — something friends said was unusual for him — but he didn’t seek immediate medical attention, believing he’d recover without it.

Jeff’s voice acting work is what made him widely recognized, especially by fans of early 2000s animated TV.

He first voiced Sheen in the 2001 film "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" and continued the role in the Nickelodeon series "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius." He later starred in the spinoff "Planet Sheen," which aired in 2010.

His other voice credits included "Barnyard," "Back at the Barnyard," "Happy Feet," "Rio," and "Marmaduke."

A Career in Comedy

Outside of animation, Jeff was a stand-up comic with a strong stage presence. He continued performing regularly, even appearing on stage as recently as early November, just weeks before his final hospitalization.

Jamie Masada, owner of the Laugh Factory, called Garcia “a special comedian” who gave back to the Latino community and helped inspire young comics.

“Jeff's a comedian who needs to be remembered,” Jamie told TMZ. The Laugh Factory later posted a tribute to Jeff on its marquee in Hollywood.

Remembered by Family

In his emotional Instagram post, Jojo wrote about the close relationship he had with his father. “He believed in me, in a way that nobody else did,” he said.

He remembered his father as someone who was “unapologetically himself” and praised his impact on fans around the world. “Whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron, or shared a laugh with him at one of his shows,” Jojo wrote, “he was my hero… I idolized him.”

Jeff was 50. His family has asked for privacy as they grieve.
