The designer, now 86, revealed on Instagram that the piece was originally created for actress Ann-Margret in the 1970s and shared a sketch of the original design.
Carpenter completed her look with glittering heels and her signature retro-inspired blonde waves. Reflecting on the evening, she wrote on Instagram that performing at the Opry was "a magical night," sharing photos from the event, including shots of her on stage and a backstage moment with Sheryl Crow.
In another post, she paid tribute to country legend Dolly Parton, sharing a vintage image of the icon performing at the same venue early in her career.
