According to reports, the 46-year-old actor was struck around 11:55 p.m. as he sat with colleagues from the film. McAvoy had been in Toronto for the world premiere of his directorial debut, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 6. He attended the event with his wife, Lisa Liberati.
A source told People that McAvoy had been enjoying a quiet evening with producers when the man, described as intoxicated, was being escorted out of the venue. "James' back was to him and the man just punched him," the source said.
