Sabrina Carpenter Stuns in Iconic 1970s Cher Costume at 2025 VMAs Afterparty
The "Manchild" hitmaker pulled out all the stops at the 2025 VMAs, closing out the night in with an archival costume previously worn by the legendary Goddess of Pop. See the look below!
Sabrina Carpenter is cementing her name in the pop music scene — and she's doing it in style. The 26-year-old artist walked away with three Video Music Awards after dazzling on the red carpet and delivering an electrifying performance onstage.
Following the coveted awards ceremony, Carpenter joined several A-listers at the VMAs Afterparty and the singer made sure to stand out. She wore a bold, halter-style bodysuit adorned with vibrant strips of pink, black, and teal fabric, each accented with metallic grommets for a rocker-chic edge.

The design featured dramatic thigh-high slits created by the cascading panels, giving the outfit movement and a daring, skin-baring effect. She paired the statement piece with metallic platform heels, while her voluminous blonde curls and glowing makeup amplified the look's playful, disco-inspired energy.

The bodysuit was originally made by couturier designer Bob Mackie for Cher in 1975 for her performance of "Shame Shame Shame" alongside Tina Turner, who wore a shorter variation of the same design.
It was sold by Julien's Auctions for $6,400 back in 2018, while Turner's version fetched $8,960. As of now, however, Carpenter's glam team has yet to confirm where they sourced hers. In the meantime, check out the singer’s Britney Spears-inspired costume for her VMAs performance.
