Meghan Markle Posts Rare Video of Mom Doria in a Sweet Birthday Tribute
The Duchess of Sussex, who shares a close bond with the social worker, took to social media earlier this week to post a sweet tribute in honor of her mother's special day.

Meghan Markle is a proud daughter. The former actress took to Instagram on Tuesday, September 2, to wish her mother, Doria Ragland, a happy birthday. She posted a boomerang of herself smiling as she planted a kiss on Doria's cheek, while Doria beamed at the camera.

The businesswoman decorated the Stories post with pink hearts and wrote, "Happy birthday to my beautiful mom!" The video was set to Stevie Wonder's 1980 hit "Happy Birthday." Meghan shares a close relationship with Doria — one that has only strengthened over time.
The 69-year-old has been present for many of her daughter's milestones, including her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, and the birth of their son, Prince Archie, the following year. Doria also frequently visited Meghan and Harry while they still lived in the U.K.

Although the two are relatively private, Meghan's longtime friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin, once shared some insight about their bond.
"Meghan draws a lot of strength from her mother. Doria is classy, chic and confident, but not unapproachable," Daniel told PEOPLE in 2018. "I definitely feel Meghan gets a lot of that from her mother."
