His former stepmother took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 13, to bid him farewell. "Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God," Reba began. "His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God's presence."
"There is no one else like him, and I'm thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family," she continued. "Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again."

Reba's post comes after a source told US Weekly that she supported the Blackstock family in the months leading up to Brandon's death. "Reba has spent more time with the Blackstock crew in the past year than in years prior," the source said, adding that past years were "contentious."
"They really came together," the insider continued. Reba was married to Brandon's father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015. The singer didn't want to divorce her then-husband at the time, but ultimately accepted it.
She has since moved on with actor Rex Linn, while Narvel remarried Laura Stroud. "Narvel and his wife, Laura, and Reba's boyfriend, Rex, are at a place where they can be together and talk, which is a big step," the insider added.
"Reba has a heart of gold, and she was there for Brandon and his kids. They are family at the end of the day," they said.
