Chase Filandro, a travel influencer and aspiring actor from Long Island, has died at the age of 20. The news was confirmed by his sister, Franki Ford, who shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.
"My brother, Chase Filandro, was a shining light who had an incredible zest for life. He was loved beyond words by so many and opened his heart to everyone he encountered. Chase was an avid traveler and was moved by the beauty of National Parks. He always welcomed strangers with a smile and made friends along all the trails he traveled on," she wrote.
In memory of Filandro, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a permanent memorial at or near one of his favorite national parks — a cause that reflected his deep appreciation for the outdoors. The fundraiser has already surpassed $24,000.
Franki added, "To honor his life and remember his legacy forever, we welcome you to contribute toward a memorial for him to be located at or near one of his favorite parks. His light will continue to shine eternally in the hearts of all those he touched throughout his remarkable, though far too brief, life. Our family is heartbroken and devastated by the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved, Chase."
"We are sharing this statement to honor his memory. Those who knew Chase understood his deep love for the arts and the outdoors. His passionate spirit and genuine warmth created lasting connections with people everywhere," the statement continued.
