Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron File Defamation Lawsuit Against Candace Owens — Details
In the wake of the legal action, the controversial podcaster has broken her silence, maintaining her comments about the couple and stating that she is prepared to face them in court.
Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against political commentator Candace Owens in the state of Delaware, over allegations made against the couple.
In the documents filed, Owens claims that the First Lady of France is a man. She is also quoted saying, she "would stake [her] entire professional reputation on" the claim.
The suit also alleges that the podcaster, "used this false statement to promote her independent platform, gain notoriety, and make money," and that she "disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favor of platforming known conspiracy theorists and proven defamers."
In an eight-part 2025 podcast series, titled "Becoming Brigitte," the author reportedly alleged that the French President's wife was born male and stole another person's identity before transitioning.
The lawsuit further alleges that Owens claimed the high-profile couple are "blood relatives committing incest." In their 219-page complaint, Emmanuel and Brigitte state that the New York native's actions have subjected them to a "campaign of global humiliation."
It was reportedly a last resort for them to sue after attempting to engage with her. Meanwhile, in response to the suit, Owens said, "I am fully prepared to take on this battle. On behalf of the entire world, I will see you in court."
