Sophia Hutchins' Cause of Death Deferred After Fatal Accident Near Caitlyn Jenner's Home
The sudden death of Sophia Hutchins, a close friend and former manager of Caitlyn Jenner, has left many unanswered questions, as the official cause of her passing remains undetermined weeks after the tragic incident.
The investigation into Sophia Hutchins' cause of death remains ongoing more than a week after the 29-year-old died in a fatal accident near Caitlyn Jenner's Malibu home.
Hutchins, known for her close personal and professional relationship with Jenner, was killed on July 2, 2025, while operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in the hills of Malibu, California. She was reportedly driving a 2013 Polaris four-wheeler when she collided with the back of a 2016 Mazda sedan.
The impact of the accident sent her vehicle off the roadside shoulder and down a steep embankment, approximately 350 feet into a ravine.
Emergency responders pronounced Hutchins dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the two occupants of the Mazda were not injured.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet finalized a cause of death, listing it as "deferred" pending further investigation and toxicology reports.
Hutchins first came into the public eye in 2015 as a close confidante to Jenner during her gender transition. Also a transgender woman, Hutchins was featured on Jenner's E! reality series "I Am Cait," which aired from 2015 to 2016.
Beyond their personal bond, Hutchins also played a key role in managing Jenner's professional ventures and philanthropic work in the years that followed.
Hutchins was laid to rest in Los Angeles, where Jenner offered comfort to her grieving mother, Amy. The former Olympian also provided Amy with a place to stay during her visit for the funeral.
