John Goodman Shows off New Physique Years After Revealing the Inspiration Behind His Weight Loss Journey

The “Roseanne” actor has gradually shed weight over the years and recently revealed an even more dramatic transformation while attending a high-profile event.

John Goodman attended the "Smurfs" movie premiere on July 14, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. He wore a navy blue suit paired with a white shirt and a tie for the occasion.

As he posed for the cameras on the red carpet, the 73-year-old's noticeable weight loss was evident. Goodman showed off a slimmer physique as he has reportedly been maintaining his 200-lbs weight loss for the past few years.

The Emmy Award winner previously revealed that he managed to lose weight by his portion control, quitting drinking, and exercising regularly.

Goodman shared the main reason why he decided to start losing weight in a March 2016 interview. "I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You're shaving in the mirror and you don't want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous," he said.

The Missouri-born actor further divulged at the time that he was getting to an age where he could no longer afford to sit still. And it gives me the energy to work, 'cause work is very draining," he added.
