The 55-year-old American actor was among the celebrities seated in the Royal Box on Sunday to watch Jannik Sinner defeat Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon men's final.

In video footage shared on X, McConaughey is seen standing as Prince William and Princess Catherine entered the box — a polite gesture widely interpreted as a mark of respect for the royals. While bowing or curtsying is traditionally reserved for British citizens, etiquette experts note that international guests are not required to follow this custom.
According to the Etiquette School of New York, only British people are required to curtsy and bow to royalty, yet Americans are not required to do so.

McConaughey looked sharp in a white suit for the event, where he interacted with actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott and was seen warmly greeting fellow guests.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the men's singles finals with two of their children, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George. It was only Catherine, Princess of Wales, who attended the women's singles finals the day prior.
