Queen Camilla briefly hesitated before changing positions beside King Charles III during the unveiling ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II's memorial stone, creating a momentary mix-up ahead of the solemn tribute.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II during a solemn ceremony at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, where they unveiled a memorial stone marking the spot where her coffin rested following her death in 2022.

A brief moment of confusion unfolded at the start of the ceremony as Queen Camilla hesitated over where to stand beside the King. After pacing momentarily, she moved to stand at his side, and the service proceeded without further disruption.
The dedication service, though short, carried deep meaning. King Charles appeared visibly moved as he and Queen Camilla revealed the newly installed black slate memorial, which marks the spot in St Giles' Cathedral where Queen Elizabeth II's coffin lay in state before being transported to London.
The memorial stone is engraved with the Scottish crown, the late Queen's royal cypher "ER," and the date of her lying in state in Edinburgh, part of her final journey following her passing at Balmoral in 2022.
During the service, Rev Dr Scott Rennie, Minister of St Giles', addressed the monarch and his consort with a reflection on Queen Elizabeth II's legacy.
"We give thanks for our great sovereign who lived a life of deep faith, humble service and unwavering devotion to duty," he said. "We honour her legacy of constancy in times of change, of grace in moments of challenge and of steadfast commitment to the people she served."
He continued, "As this stone becomes in time a place of memory, let it also be a sign of inspiration, calling all who pass by to live lives of self-giving love, steadfast devotion and commitment to the common good."
