Lizzo Admits She 'Tried Everything' During Her Weight Loss Journey
The "About Damn Time" singer admitted to experimenting with "everything" amid her weightloss journey during her appearance on a recent episode of the "Just Trish" podcast.
Lizzo sat down with Trisha Paytas on her podcast in an episode published on Thursday, June 19. The singer opened up about what she has labeled as her "weight release" and her experience with Ozempic.
Ozempic is an anti-obesity medical drug also used to treat adult type 2 diabetics. It has gained increasing popularity for its weight-loss side effects.
While in conversation about the drug and other stigmatized weight loss methods, the host asked Lizzo if she had tried it. "I've tried everything," the songwriter admitted.
"Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing," she continued.
Lizzo has been documenting her weight release for the past several years and now has a significantly smaller frame. And while she has shed several pounds, she acknowledges that she is still in a "bigger body" and her journey is ongoing.
During her chat with Trisha, she explained that what ultimately helped her control her food intake was ditching the vegan diet she followed between 2020 and 2023. "When I was vegan I was consuming a lot of fake meats," she said.
"I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full—but really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day," she noted.
Lizzo said she transitioned to eating whole foods, including all kinds of meats like beef, chicken, and fish, and felt a noticeable and welcome improvement, as her meals were more filling and satisfying.
