Trump Family Reveals Plans for U.S.-Built Smartphone and New Wireless Network
The Trump Organization unveiled a new smartphone and wireless service on Monday, marking its latest business expansion under the leadership of Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
At an event held at Trump Tower in Manhattan, the family-owned company introduced "Trump Mobile," a wireless service accompanied by the upcoming release of the "T1 smartphone," a gold device that the company says will be manufactured in the United States.
The Android-based T1 phone is expected to retail for $499 when it launches in August, according to the company's website. The phone features a 6.8-inch screen, a 50-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, 12 gigabytes of RAM, and 246 gigabytes of internal storage. Its design includes an etched American flag beneath a large "T" and smaller "1" on the back casing.
A spokesperson for the Trump Organization told The Wall Street Journal that the device will be manufactured in Alabama, California, and Florida. The initiative aligns with President Donald Trump's longstanding push for more U.S.-based manufacturing and comes amid trade policies that have pressured companies like Apple to reduce overseas production.
The Trump Mobile wireless service will cost $47.45 per month, a price that nods to Trump's position as the 45th and 47th president. The plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data, as well as extras such as roadside assistance and telehealth services.
