Jennifer Lopez Sued Twice Over Photos She Posted of Herself
Jennifer Lopez is facing legal action from a photographer and a licensing agency after allegedly sharing paparazzi photos of herself on social media without obtaining permission to use them.
Jennifer Lopez has been hit with two separate copyright infringement lawsuits stemming from images she posted to Instagram and X.

Photographer Edwin Blanco and photo agency BackGrid USA filed the lawsuits on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in federal court. They claim Lopez posted two photos taken outside the Amazon MGM Studios x Vanity Fair party on January 4, held the night before the Golden Globe Awards, without permission.

The images, which show the singer and actress outside the Los Angeles event, were later reposted by fan accounts and fashion brands, amplifying their reach online. Lopez allegedly shared the photos on both Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Ms. Lopez's unauthorized use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion," wrote attorney Peter Perkowski in the filing. "For example, Ms. Lopez used the images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewelry, leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships."
The plaintiffs say they contacted Lopez's team shortly after the photos were posted and claim a verbal agreement was reached for a financial settlement. However, they allege that Lopez did not sign a written contract and has yet to pay the agreed amount.
While the legal battle unfolds, Lopez appeared unbothered. She spent 36 hours in New York City, attending the "Ring Them Bells: A Birthday Celebration for John Kander" at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, wearing a sleek white gown.
She later changed into a pink slipdress accessorized with a feather boa and capped off the night in a dramatic black spiderweb dress in honor of Broadway legend Chita Rivera.
