Melania Trump Has Reportedly Spent Fewer Than 14 Days at the White House
Melania Trump's rare appearances at the White House are drawing renewed attention to her largely private role as First Lady and as the President's wife.
Reports suggest that First Lady Melania Trump has spent fewer than 14 days residing at the White House since President Donald Trump took office.
Instead of the White House, Melania is out of sight for weeks at a time, either at the Trump Tower in Manhattan, or at times, at the family's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Although officials from the Trump administration maintain that the First Lady is present at the White House more often than it appears publicly, they have not provided specific details regarding the duration or timing of her stays.
Her recent absence has fueled speculation about the true state of their marriage, particularly in light of the turbulent events they've endured over the past year. From a highly publicized trial involving allegations of President Trump's infidelity, to the intensity of a presidential campaign, and even surviving two assassination attempts, the couple has faced an extraordinary level of scrutiny and strain.
Despite her limited presence at the White House, Melania has hired staff to work with her in the East Wing. She has also made appearances at several official events.
Notably, she participated in a ceremony unveiling a postage stamp in honor of former First Lady Barbara Bush and delivered a speech at an event celebrating military mothers shortly before Mother's Day.
During the latter event, President Trump praised his wife for the wonderful job she's done raising their son, Barron. "I want to thank you. You've done a great job. Thank you, honey – great First Lady," he praised.
