Richard Gere Makes Instagram Debut with Video Highlighting His Foundation

The actor dedicated his first Instagram post to promoting the Gere Foundation and warning fans about fake accounts impersonating him on the internet.

Richard Gere is now officially on Instagram. In his first post—a short video message—the veteran actor introduced himself and highlighted his charitable work through the Gere Foundation.

He also warned fans about impersonator accounts. "Hi, this is Richard Gere, and this is my real place where you can get a hold of me. All the other ones are not real," Gere said.

He went on to share that for details on his humanitarian work, fans could get in touch with Gere Foundation. "Don't pay any attention to it, and certainly don't give money to anything without my personal approval, okay? I feel very strongly about this."

Although the account currently features only one video, it displays Instagram’s blue verification badge, confirming its authenticity. Fans can find his official handle under the username @richardgere.

The "Runaway Bride" actor is currently living in Madrid, Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva. "My wife is so happy there," he disclosed to Page Six at the City Harvest Annual Gala. "Her family is there, her culture is there, [our] youngest kids are growing up there."

The couple began dating in 2014 and married in 2018. They share two children together, sons Alexander and James. Gere also has a son, Homer, whom he shares with ex, Carey Lowell. Silva also has a son, Albert, from a previous marriage.
