Beauty Influencer, 30, Dies Unexpectedly After Reported Weight Loss Surgery

Valéria Pantoja was a social media influencer and experienced esthetician. Her family confirmed her passing over the weekend in a Stories post on her Instagram page.

Pantoja's family announced her passing on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Although it's said that she had recently undergone a medical operation, her exact cause of death has yet to be determined.

The "note of condolence" shared by her family was written in Portuguese. Translated into English, it read, "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Valéria Pantoja. She was a beloved person and leaves memories that will comfort our hearts."

The message also expressed gratitude to fans and former clients of Pantoja for the outpouring of love and support they've received during such a trying time.

Pantoja's sister-in-law shared—in an emotional post of her own—that she passed away in a hospital after suddenly falling ill. She also revealed that Pantoja had recently undergone bariatric weight loss surgery.

In another post, the sister-in-law clarified, "She didn't kill herself! She didn't fall down the stairs! We still don't know the cause, only after the autopsy!" She also urged the public to stop spreading misinformation, as she said, "Please stop spreading lies!"

Pantoja's passing leaves a great void in the beauty community. She was deeply passionate about her work, as she once wrote, "My mission is to promote the quality of life, self-esteem and the self-care we all need."
