The episode was released two days ago and featured Christina Applegate and her co-host, Jamie Lynn Sigler, speaking with actress and The Happy Place co-founder JoAnna Garcia Swisher.

About ten minutes in, the conversation shifts into the topic of grief. Sigler mentions that Swisher lost both her parents, and asks the actress how the loss shaped her and what she learned about herself during the grieving process.

Swisher said that acknowledging her parents' deaths as having changed her life "irrevocably" allowed her the space to mourn and settle into a "new normal."

Moved by Swisher's openness, Applegate became emotional. "You're probably wondering why I'm crying right now, sorry," she began. "My dad just passed away a week ago. This is the first time I've really cried. I think kind of like, I wasn't allowing myself to have that yet. Too busy with this, too busy with that."

Applegate added that she and her family knew his time was coming. Still, she questioned whether her lack of emotion was justified. "Is that an excuse for not feeling, because you kind of know that someone's going to go and you've said your goodbyes?" she wondered.

The "Dead to Me" star said she was "insanely sad" about her father's passing. She shared that she didn't grow up with him as her parents separated when she was young. Still he remained a part of her life.
