Dodgers Designated Hitter Shohei Ohtani Becomes First-Time Dad
Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has welcomed his first child with his wife Mamiko Tanaka. The proud dad first announced he was expecting late last year.
In a heartfelt April 19 Instagram post, Ohtani announced the arrival of his healthy baby girl. Opening with “Welcome to the Ohtani family!,” he thanked his daughter for making him and Tanaka “very nervous, yet super anxious parents.”
Ohtani continued to express his gratitude for the Dodgers organization, his teammates, and his fans for the consistent support and words of encouragement.
He also thanked the medical professionals and loved ones that guided them through to the end. In the post, the MLB standout also included an adorable photo of his newborn daughter’s feet.
In the comment section, Dodgers wrote, “Congratulations, Shohei and Mamiko! Can’t wait to meet the newest Dodger. 💙”
MLB also added, “Congrats Shohei and Mamiko!”
Ohtani first shared he was expecting his first child on Instagram in December 2024. Alongside a photo of a pink romper, baby sneakers, and an ultrasound photo, he wrote, “Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!”
Since his wife gave birth, he has rejoined the Dodgers line-up for the upcoming series finale against the Texas Rangers.
