Oprah Winfrey Flaunts Trim Figure in Workout Gear After Hitting the Gym
With her hoodie zipped up and water bottle in hand, Oprah Winfrey looked every bit the wellness icon as she exited a Santa Barbara gym this weekend.
Oprah Winfrey is showing off the results of her hard work. The media icon, 71, was spotted over the weekend leaving a gym session in Santa Barbara, looking strong and stylish in classic workout gear.

Wearing a simple white T-shirt layered under a zip-up gray hoodie, black leggings, and white sneakers, Winfrey kept things casual but chic in photos shared by the Daily Mail. She topped off the look with a black headband and round eyeglasses, and carried a large blue water bottle and brown leather pouch as she headed to her car.
It was a relaxed moment, but one that highlighted the transformation the former talk show host has undergone in recent years.
Winfrey has been open about her long and complicated relationship with weight. In a deeply personal People cover story in December 2023, she shared how public scrutiny and internalized shame shaped her body image for decades.
“It was public sport to make fun of me for 25 years,” she said. “I have been blamed and shamed, and I blamed and shamed myself.”

After years of yo-yo dieting and self-blame, Winfrey said her perspective shifted dramatically following a knee surgery in 2021. That recovery process jump-started a new phase of her wellness journey: hiking regularly, eating earlier, drinking more water, and following WeightWatchers principles.

She also revealed then that she uses a prescribed weight-loss medication — though she hasn’t named the specific drug — as part of her routine. “I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing,” she told People.
She shared that during the holiday season, the medication helped her avoid the kind of weight gain she’d experienced in the past, and described it as something that helps "quiet the food noise."

At the heart of her shift in thinking was a growing understanding of obesity as a medical condition rather than a personal failure. “Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower — it’s about the brain,” she said.
Winfrey's openness about using medication, especially as public interest in drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy surges, continued in her March 2024 ABC special, "An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution.
In the special, Winfrey expanded on her personal journey and turned the spotlight toward the broader societal conversation around weight.
The program featured medical experts and real-life stories to examine how obesity is often misunderstood and unfairly judged. Winfrey reflected on how media ridicule and public scrutiny affected her for decades, recalling hurtful tabloid headlines and the emotional toll they took.
“I took on the shame that the world gave to me,” she said in the special. Her goal, she explained, was to help shift the narrative from blame and personal failure to compassion, education, and science. “I come to this conversation with the hope that we can start releasing the stigma and the shame and the judgment,” she added.
That mission is something Winfrey will continue to explore in the upcoming book "Enough: Your Health, Your Weight, and What It’s Like to Be Free" by Dr. Ania Jastreboff, which she’ll contribute to with personal reflections.
She’s also gearing up for a speaking tour in Australia and New Zealand this December, where she’s expected to share more of her story.
For now, Winfrey’s message is simple: health is a journey, not a number. And if her latest gym sighting is any sign, she’s walking that path with confidence — one step at a time.
