Just months before her death, Diane Keaton made one last design decision — putting her beloved Los Angeles brick home on the market, a place she had once vowed never to leave.

Diane Keaton's final months were marked by sudden decline and quiet reflection. The Oscar-winning actress, who died on October 11 at age 79 in California, had experienced a sharp deterioration in her health, according to a close friend.

The source said her decline was "very sudden" and "heartbreaking for everyone who loved her," describing the loss as unexpected for someone long known for her resilience and spirit.

In her final weeks, Keaton was surrounded by her closest family members, who chose to keep her condition private. Even some of her longtime friends were unaware of the extent of her illness.

Earlier this year, Keaton made one final, surprising decision — listing her cherished Los Angeles residence, a home she once called her "forever" house. The actress and interior design enthusiast had spent years perfecting the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom brick estate, which she placed on the market in March for $29 million.

Keaton, an accomplished home renovator, had chronicled the property’s creation in her 2017 book "The House That Pinterest Built."

She wrote that her inspiration came from the childhood story "The Three Little Pigs," recalling how the third pig's sturdy brick home left a lasting impression. "I knew I was going to live in a brick house when I grew up," she reflected.
