A contestant on "The Voice" may not have advanced in the competition, but he still had a winning moment when he proposed to his girlfriend on stage during his blind audition.

Jacob Ryan Gustafson left "The Voice" without a chair turn, but he still had the night's biggest win.

During the Tuesday, September 23, 2025 episode, the 35-year-old firefighter auditioned with Morgan Wallen's "Spin You Around." None of the coaches turned their chairs, but Gustafson decided to use the moment to propose to his girlfriend Jennifer.

"I just want to say thank you for this opportunity. Can I bring someone up?" he asked after his performance. Introducing Jennifer, he told the coaches, "She is the reason why I'm here."

Standing before her, Gustafson continued, "This life is a beautiful life and I'm so blessed. Even right now if I could change anything — the only thing I'd change is your last name." He then pulled a ring box from his pocket, knelt on stage, and asked, "Will you marry me?"

The crowd erupted in applause as Jennifer accepted. Coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Niall Horan joined them on stage to offer congratulations.

"Okay, so you won 'The Voice'?" Bublé, 50, joked."That's the winner right there brother," Snoop, 53, shouted.

Jennifer left the stage wiping away tears, hand in hand with her fiancé.

Reflecting afterward, Bublé said, "Jacob shows you that there are no losers on 'The Voice.' What a beautiful moment. Yeah, nobody turned but the person that he wanted most said yes." Horan, 32, added, "That was nuts!"

Before the audition, Jennifer spoke about her support for Gustafson while also acknowledging the dangers of his career. "I love his career path he's gone down," she said of his firefighting work, but admitted "the unknown if he's going to come home safe every night" is the hardest part.

She explained that music offered him another path forward, "Just being able to have something that his kids can look up to and be proud of but not that he has to put his life on the line every single day would probably be the most amazing part for us."

Gustafson, who began performing publicly only a year ago, credited Jennifer for inspiring him. "It took me 20 years to get the confidence to do something like this," he said. "I really want to show Jen that her belief in me has made me believe in myself."
