Body Language Expert Compares Meghan Markle's Behavior with First Husband and Prince Harry
The Duchess of Sussex's gestures and stances show a big change between her first marriage and her current relationship, according to a body language expert.
Meghan Markle's private life has sparked discussion for years, with many especially curious about her first marriage and her current marriage. A body language expert recently shared observations about how Meghan behaved in both relationships.

Back when Meghan was still establishing herself as a Hollywood actress, she began dating Trevor Engelson in 2004 and ultimately tied the knot in September 2011. However, the two split, with Meghan citing "irreconcilable differences" in their August 2013 divorce.

The former couple had only a few public photos together, but body language expert Judi James told Daily Mail that those images still offered insight into their romance. Meghan's poses with Trevor suggest she was a "passive trophy wife."

Judi also noted that Meghan's perfect smile in photos with Trevor resembled that of a "pure beauty queen," suggesting she was suppressing her authentic self. In group shots, the "Suits" star often leaned in from the edge, letting Trevor take center stage, signaling that he was the "main man."

In contrast, Judi said Meghan's relationship with Harry reflects a confident and equal partnership. Meghan reportedly dated Prince Harry in July 2016 and married him in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
"If she was once the trophy wife, she now seems to display Harry and boast about him like the trophy husband," Judi observed. Public photos of Meghan show her walking close to the Duke of Sussex, holding his arm with both hands, and directing intimate gestures.

Judi added that Meghan's physical cues now look "more authentic," with stronger confidence and a desire to appear as an equal rather than an attachment or trophy.

"She looks like a woman aware that the balance, power, love and keenness signals were off-key the first time around but that this time she will get them emphatically right," Judi said. She added that Meghan now often shows herself in the role of star and leader.

Looking at both marriages, Judi concluded that Meghan's nonverbal behavior with her current husband reflects greater confidence and self-expression compared to her earlier relationship.
