Nelly Furtado Sends a Message to Bodyshamers Without Saying a Word

The longtime singer, who now has a noticeably fuller figure, decided to let her personal style do the talking during a recent show in Manchester. She previously addressed the scrutiny over her changed appearance earlier this year.

Nelly Furtado is honoring her New Year's resolution of maintaining a body-neutral mindset. The "Maneater" songstress performed at the 2025 Manchester Pride Festival on Sunday, August 24, and it appears she had a message for bodyshamers.

For the event, Furtado donned an oversized graphic T-shirt featuring a printed image of a woman with a visibly smaller figure, dressed in a white tank top pulled up to reveal her midriff and a denim mini skirt.

The skirt was secured with a large, gold bedazzled belt inscribed with the words "Whoa Nelly" on a heart-shaped buckle. The woman's neck also teemed with layered silver necklaces.

Furtado paired the T-shirt with glittering fishnet tights and knee-high statement boots in teal and orange, emblazoned with the words "Better Than Ever" in pink lettering.

Her accessories included metallic pink fingerless gloves, chunky hoop earrings, and layered chokers, while her hair was pulled back into a sleek braid.

Furtado previously addressed the scrutiny surrounding her noticeable weight gain at the beginning of this year. She posted a short carousel of mirror selfies in which she flaunted her curves in a bright orange bikini.

"HAVE A BODY NEUTRAL 2025, 😉, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOVE WITH EVERY INCH OF YOUR HEART ♥️THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES THIS YEAR 🙏🏼," she wrote alongside the images.

The "Say It Right" hitmaker shared that she "became aware of the aesthetic pressure" of her work in a "brand new way" over the past year. However, she explained that also experienced "new levels of self-love and genuine confidence from within."
