Lil Nas X Released from Jail After Being Charged with Four Felonies
Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with four felonies in Los Angeles, though he has since been released from custody.
Rapper Lil Nas X, born Montero Lamar Hill, was released from a Los Angeles jail on August 25, 2025, following an arraignment on four felony charges tied to a confrontation with police.

The "Old Town Road" hitmaker entered a plea of not guilty to all counts.
Court records show that Lil Nas X appeared before a judge at Los Angeles Superior Court, where he was formally arraigned. After the proceedings, he left the courthouse wearing a blue inmate uniform and sandals, entering an SUV parked nearby.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, the 26-year-old artist is charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer. The office also confirmed his not guilty plea.
If convicted, Lil Nas X could face up to five years in state prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15, 2025.
The case stems from an incident on August 21, when Los Angeles police officers responded to a call about a "nude man walking in the street" on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City at about 5:50 a.m.
Although the LAPD did not release the suspect's name, photos and videos later published by TMZ identified the man as Lil Nas X. In the footage, he is seen walking down the street in only white cowboy boots and white briefs, occasionally striking poses and making direct eye contact with the camera.
"Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody," the LAPD said in a statement to E! News. "He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for Battery on a Police Officer."
