The TV personality's family is facing an unprecedented tragedy after losing their 13-year-old grandson. Following the incident, they released a statement.
Dog the Bounty Hunter (real name Duane Chapman) and his family are mourning the loss of his step-grandson, Anthony Zecca. The young teen died in what has been described as an accidental shooting that took place on the evening of Saturday, July 19.
According to TMZ, which spoke to sources with direct knowledge, Anthony's father, Gregory Zecca, shot his son in a freak accident at their apartment in Naples, Florida. Law enforcement corroborated the report, confirming that they responded to a call about gunfire around 8 p.m. ET.
Authorities also revealed that no arrests were made and described the situation as an "isolated incident." The investigation is ongoing. Dog and his wife, Francie Chapman, have since released a statement via a representative.
"We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony," they said. They also requested privacy at this time.
Gregory is Francie's son from a previous marriage. She married Dog in 2021 following the passing of both their spouses. The couple has previously shared that they bonded over their grief.
