The public figures were the best of friends and were often seen together in workout clothes. However, one encounter allegedly changed everything.
Author Amy Odell has penned a new book titled "Gwyneth: The Biography," wherein she details how the Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow and singer Madonna's friendship ended.
The two women formed a friendship after Madonna penned a note to Paltrow, asking her to stop smoking when she was still in high school. The actress's first marriage to Chris Martin, she and the singer were often seen together in workout clothes.
However, things quickly changed sometime later when Madonna showed up at the same vacation spot where the couple was. Odell claims in the book:
"Madonna seemed to know that Gwyneth would be there, which Gwyneth seemed to find strange."
The songwriter then insisted the duo join her and a group of other people for dinner, where she allegedly lashed out at her daughter Lourdes Leon.
"Gwyneth and Martin were disgusted by the behavior. 'I can't be around this woman anymore,' Martin told Gwyneth. 'She's awful.' Gwyneth agreed that Madonna was toxic and ended the friendship," writes Odell.
The two have reportedly not addressed how their relationship ended. In addition to their falling out, Odell's book also delves into Paltrow's childhood, rise to superstardom, her relationships over the years, and her business empire. It is set for release on July 29, 2025.
