Paul Simon’s Daughter Lulu Slams Richard Gere for Selling Childhood Home Soon to Be Demolished by Developers
The 30-year-old singer took to social media to express her anger over the sale of her childhood home after the "Pretty Woman" actor had "promised he would take care of" it.
On Tuesday, July 8, Paul Simon's daughter Lulu Simon took to her Instagram Stories to lash out over the demolition of her former childhood home in New Canaan, Connecticut. The property was acquired by Richard Gere in 2022 from Paul and his wife, Edie Brickell.
He sold it in October 2024 for $10.75 million reportedly ahead of moving to Madrid, Spain, with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their small children. "Just in case anyone was wondering if I still hate Richard Gere – I do!" Lulu began in white text over a selfie.
"Hate him!" she added. In the post, she also included a screenshot of a news article about the home's impending destruction.
She continued, "He bought my childhood home. Promised he would take care of the land as condition of his purchase. Proceeded to never actually move in & just sold it to a developer as 9 separate plots :)."
Lulu did not provide any further details about the alleged agreement and the condition that she claims Richard failed to honor. She posted a second Story, which was an old photo of the "Primal Fear" star surrounded by what appeared to be the singer's old pets.
"I hope my dead pets buried in that backyard haunt you until you descend into a slow and unrelenting madness," she wrote. The news of the estate's impending demolition first emerged in May of this year. At this time, Richard has yet to respond.
