Cher’s Son Elijah Hospitalized After Overdose; Estranged Wife Speaks Out in Support
One of the legendary musician's sons suffered a drug overdose in his home last weekend and was subsequently hospitalized. His wife has spoken out in support amid their divorce proceedings.
On Saturday, June 14, reports emerged that San Bernardino Police responded to a Landers residence regarding a 48-year-old male who had been "acting erratically."

When they arrived, the man was already being evaluated by emergency medical personnel. In a statement to People, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office said, "Deputies located drugs inside the home and Allman was transported to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing."
The man in question was identified as Cher's son, Elijah Blue Allman—whom she shares with the late Gregg Allman. Following his hospitalization, his estranged wife, Marieangela King Allman, released a statement.

"While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves," Marieangela said.
She emphasized that Elijah "continues to confront his inner struggles" and that he "remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose."

"I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show," she concluded.
Marieangela filed for the dissolution of her and Elijah's 13-year marriage in April of this year. "We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I'll always cherish. I know we'll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart," she said in a statement.

The divorce proceedings are just one aspect of a tumultuous past few years for Elijah. In 2023, his mother filed for conservatorship of his estate due to his alleged substance abuse. However, after they reached a private agreement, she voluntarily dismissed it in 2024.
