Florence began by reflecting on the privilege of working with Burrell on the Food Network. "I'm heartbroken. So are Tolan and the kids," he said of Burrell's passing, referring to his wife and children

"She loved our family deeply. We spent our summers in NYC filming WC's and we all went out to dinner once a week as a big family," he shared. He recalled how they would often take whatever day off they had to "stay out late and drink Italian reds and laugh."

News of Burrell's passing emerged on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, had found her unresponsive on the shower floor and dialed 911. Paramedics arrived and did all they could to revive her but were unsuccessful.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Since then, new details emerged from the New York Fire Department, which revealed to E! News that the call they received about Burrell suggested she may have gone into cardiac arrest before she died. However, her official cause of death has yet to be determined.
