The screening and Q&A, held at the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Arts, drew attention not only for the movie's positive buzz but also for Jackman's noticeably tired appearance.

The 57-year-old actor posed for photos with fans and attendees, but many couldn't help noticing his red eyes, which were hard to miss even as he smiled warmly for the cameras. Though Jackman remained gracious and energetic, his fatigued look created quiet concern among observers.

"Song Sung Blue" Delivers Heart, Music, and Strong Performances

"Song Sung Blue" follows a Milwaukee auto mechanic and his hairdresser wife as they navigate life's hardships while clinging to their shared dream. While the concept may initially sound like classic Hallmark sentimentality, director Craig Brewer elevates the story into something more compelling.

His take on the triumphs and struggles of a Neil Diamond tribute act is filled with genuine emotion, rousing musical moments, and standout performances from Jackman and Hudson, whose on-screen chemistry makes the film especially engaging.

Jackman's Red Eyes Spark Quiet Concern

Despite the movie being the main focus of the night, Jackman's physical appearance at the event became a topic of conversation on its own.

The actor has been open for years about his ongoing battle with basal cell carcinoma, a recurring form of skin cancer he has dealt with since 2013. In August 2025, reports confirmed he underwent treatment on his nose for the third time.

Although a recurring cancer diagnosis can be alarming, experts emphasize that basal cell carcinoma is both common and highly treatable.

Dr. Julia Tzu, Medical Director of Wall Street Dermatology and Assistant Clinical Professor at NYU School of Medicine, previously explained that while the cancer is rarely fatal, "if left unchecked, it can cause significant damage in important areas of the body such as the eyes, nose, lips, and hands."

Dedication to Promotion Despite Health Concerns

It is not known whether Jackman's red eyes were connected to medical treatment, simple exhaustion, or another harmless cause. Still, his recent schedule suggests he is pushing ahead full force.

Just one day after the SAG-AFTRA screening, Jackman and Hudson were back on the red carpet for the 16th annual Governors Awards as part of their continued promotion of "Song Sung Blue."
