Hilaria Baldwin Shares 'True Story' Behind DWTS Casting After Julianne Hough's 'Campaign' Remarks
Hilaria Baldwin is addressing speculation about her path to the ballroom, offering her version of how she became part of the new season of "Dancing With the Stars."
Hilaria Baldwin wants fans to know the real story behind her casting on "Dancing With the Stars."
Speaking backstage with Page Six alongside her professional partner Gleb Savchenko, the wellness entrepreneur pushed back on the idea that she actively lobbied for a spot in the show's 34th season, an idea floated by co-host Julianne Hough earlier this month.
"That's actually not true. I did not campaign. It was, like, not on my radar," Baldwin, 41, explained.
According to Baldwin, the offer to join the cast came at the very last minute. "A few days before [the announcement], they called me and were like, 'Do you wanna do this?' And I just made a spur-of-the-moment decision. I had to move my whole family out here [to Los Angeles] last minute. So, you heard it here first. That is the true story," she said.
The clarification comes after Hough shared her perspective during a recent appearance on the "Chicks in the Office" podcast. While discussing Baldwin's participation, hosts Francesca Mariano and Maria Ciuffo pointed out the viral TikTok videos Baldwin had been posting of herself dancing with husband Alec Baldwin.
"I'm not kidding, like, that was a campaign and she won," Hough remarked during the conversation. "She was campaigning and she got on!"
When Page Six raised the subject of those comments, Baldwin took it in stride. "I know, I heard it too. I hear a lot of things about me that are not true," she said with a laugh, before playfully adding, "But, you heard it first. Breaking news!"
