Andie Macdowell Tells Drew Barrymore She Refuses to Feel Ashamed of Aging
Andie MacDowell told Drew Barrymore she refuses to feel ashamed of aging, saying she wants to embrace her natural self for her grandchildren.
Andie MacDowell is speaking out about aging and the pressures placed on women in Hollywood. The 67-year-old actress appeared on "The Drew Barrymore Show" on Monday, September 9. During the discussion, she reflected on the evolution of beauty standards across generations.
MacDowell explained that she never saw her grandmother, whom she deeply admired, worry about looking young. She said that pressure is a more modern concept that has left many women feeling ashamed as they age.
"I have three little grandchildren and I'm gonna be a grandmother for them and I'm going to look like what I'm supposed to look like," she told Barrymore. She added that she embraces her age because she loves herself and no longer feels the need to appear younger.
Barrymore, who co-starred with MacDowell in the 1994 western "Bad Girls," hosted the conversation alongside Halle Berry, Valerie Bertinelli, and Nate Burleson. The panel also discussed perimenopause and broader themes of self-worth.
