Julia Roberts Honors Her Friend in Rare Public Appearance in Venice

The "Eat, Pray, Love," star was seen arriving alongside her "After the Hunt" co-stars in the Italian city ahead of the Venice Film Festival — and in a look that honored her friend.

Julia Roberts landed in Venice on Wednesday afternoon, August 27, ahead of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The actress is set to attend the red carpet on the third night of the multi-day event to debut her new crime thriller, "After the Hunt."

Roberts wore a casual yet chic outfit, pairing black T-shirt with black knee-length shorts and navy sneakers. She accessorized with dark cat-eye sunglasses, a silver wristwatch, and a black structured handbag, but what really stood out in her ensemble was her cardigan.

The cream knitted garment was adorned with bold black-and-white iterations of director Luca Guadagnino's face. The style choice served as a touching nod to her and Guadagnino's friendship.

The two worked together in "After the Hunt" and, according to Guadagnino, Roberts was the first to see the script. "We started talking and became instant friends," the director told Vanity Fair.

Roberts and Guadagnino later attended the film's photocall and press conference on Friday, August 29, ahead of its premiere. They were joined by Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield, who also star in the film.

The thriller flick, slated for release this October, follows a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when one of her top students accuses one of her colleagues — and close friend — of assault.
