Selena Gomez’s Sweet Reaction to ‘Bestie’ Taylor Swift Getting Engaged

The "Same Old Love" singer — who has been close friends for years with the "Love Story" hitmaker — is over the moon for her friend's new chapter, which comes eight months after she announced her own engagement.

Selena Gomez has joined the millions around the globe celebrating her best friend Taylor Swift's engagement to her partner of more than two years, Travis Kelce. The "Only Murders in the Building" actress even got a little sentimental in her reaction.

She reposted the couple's joint announcement to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 27, writing, "When bestie gets engaged 🥰." The sweet repost was set to the 1975 track "You're My Best Friend" by British rock band Queen.

Gomez then followed up with a screenshot of an X account called Nostalgia replying to a 2009 tweet that Swift dedicated to her. "@selenagomez Real love still happens sometimes," Swift wrote at the time.

"It's not just something we make up when we're nine. I have to believe that. You do too," she added. On Tuesday, August 26, shortly after Swift shared the big news, Nostalgia replied to that old tweet with two photos from Swift and Gomez's engagement announcements.

"16 years later," the account wrote. Swift's engagement comes eight months after Gomez revealed that she and Benny Blanco were engaged in December 2024. Gomez and Blanco started dating in mid-2023 and eventually went Instagram official that December.
