Blake Lively Cast in First New Movie Since 'It Ends With Us' Controversy
Blake Lively is stepping back into the spotlight with a new leading role, marking her first film project since the high-profile controversy surrounding "It Ends With Us" co-star Justin Baldoni.
Blake Lively has been cast in "The Survival List," a project she will also produce, marking her first film since filing a lawsuit against her "It Ends With Us" co-star Justin Baldoni nearly a year ago. Lionsgate officially announced the film on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The romantic comedy follows Annie, a reality TV producer portrayed by Lively, who reluctantly joins a new show hosted by a renowned survivalist named Chopper Lane.
"When a shipwreck strands them on a deserted island, Annie discovers Chopper is a fraud and knows nothing about survival, leaving her in charge of figuring out how to keep them alive," a synopsis for the film stated. "Forced to work together, they begin to discover an unlikely chemistry."
Marc Platt, known for producing "Wicked," is also attached to the project. The screenplay was written by Tom Melia. In addition to starring, Lively will serve as a producer.
The role comes after a turbulent year for Lively, who filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment. Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit, which a judge later dismissed.
Although "The Survival List" is her first time back on set since the legal battle, Lively has remained active onscreen. In May 2025, she reunited with Anna Kendrick in "Another Simple Favor," the sequel to their 2018 film "A Simple Favor."
