Kate Gosselin Details Why She Has Returned to Nursing Career

The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" alum gave fans a glimpse into how she spent her evening while she recapped her 12-hour shift as a home health care nurse earlier this week.

Kate Gosselin has settled into an ordinary life and career, and she's not afraid to get candid about it. The mom of eight recently joined TikTok and has been sharing frequent life updates on the platform. On Monday, August 11, she posted a video shortly after she returned from work.

"Hi guys, it's really late at night. I just got back from work, and I just thought, well if I'm gonna make a TikTok, you can help me [load] the dishwasher and clean up my kitchen," she began in the video.

Gosselin shared that she had had "a very busy day — another 12-hour shift." She and her patient spent most of the day outdoors, playing on the swings, playing in the water, and even attending a birthday party.

The former reality star also noted that she performed her medical care duties, which included bathing and feeding her patient, and went on to answer a few questions from followers on her previous videos.

Gosselin, whose last TV appearance was in 2023 on the first season of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test," replied, "Yep. Raised and supported 8 kids alone and now they have enough college money to go to college and beyond! I achieved my goal but have no personal retirement 😢."

Another viewer wondered, "What happened with all the income from the show? I hate that you are having to work 12 hour shifts."

Gosselin responded: "Honestly? Providing for 8 kids, college funds which I am proud to say covered all of their college and more and LAWYERS. Sickening but I was drug into court constantly and that costs A TON."

Her divorce from her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, was marred by numerous legal battles. "Sad bc my kids could have a lot more saved and I could have a retirement saved if it weren't for lawyers :(," she added. "It's okay. I'm helping other families and I feel needed and I enjoy helping!"
