Zoë Kravitz Recalls How Taylor Swift Sheltered Her During LA Fires — and the Snake Mishap That 'Destroyed' Part of Singer's Home

When California wildfires forced Zoë Kravitz from her home earlier this year, Taylor Swift stepped in as a lifeline — offering shelter that came with an unexpected and costly mishap.

Zoë Kravitz says Taylor Swift generously opened her Beverly Hills home to her and her mother, Lisa Bonet, when deadly wildfires swept through California earlier this year — but the stay ended with part of the singer's bathroom in ruins.

Appearing on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the "High Fidelity" star recalled that the 14-time Grammy winner welcomed them into her historic, $25 million property.

"We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks," Kravitz said, adding that Bonet brought along her pet snake, Orpheus. "And Taylor has this beautiful house. It's from the '30s, something you want to preserve and take care of," she added.

Kravitz explained that she always tries to be a "good houseguest" who leaves places "better than I found them," but admitted that, in this case, "I did end up accidentally destroying" part of her friend's home.

The incident happened as they were cleaning up before leaving. Kravitz said she got a call from her mom, who was upstairs. After searching the house, she found Bonet strangely crouched in the corner in the bathroom.

It turned out that while Bonet was washing her face, she had put Orpheus downfor a second. When she closed the door, she found the snake inside a little hole in the corner.

The snake had slipped into a small opening in the wall beside a built-in banquette and gotten stuck. Bonet held onto Orpheus's tail as the two tried to pull her out, but their panic only drove the snake deeper into the wall.

Kravitz called Swift's house manager, who arrived with a crowbar to dismantle the banquette in an attempt to free the pet.

"We're ripping up the tile. We're scratching the walls," she said. "Completely destroyed Taylor's bathroom and there was just this moment where I was like, 'Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her that there's a snake somewhere in her house.'"

Kravitz said she offered to pay for repairs and asked the house manager not to tell Swift until it was fixed. But when she phoned her longtime friend to confess, Swift was already aware.

The incident didn't seem to rattle Swift, who has shared a friendship with Kravitz for more than a decade — a bond that has only grown stronger over the years.
