Carrie Underwood Goes Back to Her ‘Roots’ with New Hair Color
The gospel and country star debuted the new look on social media, ditching what had become her signature blonde locks. The transformation comes after she received a GMA Dove Award nomination.
Carrie Underwood is giving this hair color "a second chance." The 42-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 5, to reveal her hair transformation. Instead of the light, icy champagne blonde her fans have come to love, her locks are now a soft, sun-kissed caramel brown.
Underwood shared a short Instagram carousel of her new look, including a clip of herself showcasing the hairstyle in natural light. "Well, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old," she wrote.
"But I thought it might be time to give it a second chance. Thanks, @hairbykatelin_ at @parlour3beauty for helping me get back to my roots! #NewOldMe #Bronde," she added.

The singer's new look comes after her song, "If It Was Up To Me," with Ben Fuller received a Dove Award nomination for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year. She celebrated the milestone by dedicating a congratulatory post to Fuller on Instagram.
"Congratulations @bendfuller on "If It Was Up To Me" being nominated for @GMADoveAwards Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year! So happy we were able to record this special song together! #DoveAwards 🕊️ 🙌🏻," she wrote.
