In the wake of a viral kiss cam scandal at a Coldplay concert, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has stepped down, marking a dramatic turn for the tech company once known mainly for its innovations in data and AI.
Andy Byron has resigned from his position as CEO of Astronomer following public scrutiny over a cheating scandal involving their Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot. The incident gained widespread attention after the two were caught on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert in the Boston area.

Astronomer addressed the controversy publicly on social media, announcing Byron's resignation and reaffirming the company's expectations for leadership behavior.
"As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met," the company posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO," they added.
The statement continued by reaffirming the company's mission and identity in the DataOps space, "Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI."

Despite the sudden shift in leadership, the company said, "While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data & AI problems."
The announcement came less than 24 hours after Byron and Cabot were placed on leave and a formal investigation was launched.

The statement also clarified that their employee, Alyssa Stoddard, was not at the event. They clarified that no other employees were in the circulating video. Speculation had circulated online suggesting that Stoddard, a team member under Cabot, was present in the viral video.
The video in question showed Byron and Cabot appearing close as the concert camera panned to them, prompting an awkward response as they noticed themselves on the big screen. The moment drew commentary from Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, who quipped, "Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy."
Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, who has since removed his last name from her Facebook profile and deactivated her accounts amid the public fallout.
Cabot was previously married to Kenneth Thornby, from whom she divorced in 2022 according to Massachusetts court records. She may now be married to Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum. Public records show they co-own a property in New Hampshire, and recent social media photos feature Kristin wearing a wedding ring while posing with Andrew and two children.
