Joe and Jill Biden Celebrate the Fourth of July at the Beach
Former President Joe Biden marked his first Independence Day weekend since leaving office with a relaxed beach outing in Malibu, surrounded by family and reflecting on the meaning of American freedom.
Joe Biden, 82, was photographed on Thursday, July 3, 2025, enjoying the holiday on the California coast near his son Hunter Biden's residence in Malibu. The former president was seen attempting to set up a beach chair before joining former First Lady Jill Biden under a red umbrella for a quiet day by the sea.
Grandchildren Finnegan Biden and Beau Biden Jr. played nearby in the sand, adding to the family-oriented atmosphere of the outing. Biden, wearing his signature aviator sunglasses and a presidential baseball cap, appeared at ease as he shook sand from his towel and soaked in the sun.
On July 4, 2025, Biden shared a patriotic message on Instagram to mark Independence Day. "Today is about freedom. It's about liberty. It's about who we are. We're the United States of America, and nothing like it exists in the world," he started his message.
"As we celebrate our nation's independence, we must also remember that democracy is never guaranteed — every generation must fight to maintain it. Happy Independence Day, America," he posted.
