Actor Eric Dane, 52, who publicly disclosed his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) earlier this year, is speaking out for the first time in a sit-down interview with veteran journalist Diane Sawyer. While the full interview has yet to air, "Good Morning America" released a teaser clip ahead of the broadcast that reveals a raw and heartfelt look at Dane's journey.

"I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening," Dane said in the preview. "It's not a dream."

The 30-second clip shows the "Grey's Anatomy" star sitting with Sawyer, holding hands as they discuss the reality of living with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease. The footage ends with Dane visibly emotional and tearing up — a powerful glimpse into the depth of the full interview.

Despite the gravity of his diagnosis, Dane expressed determination to continue forward. "I don't think this is the end of my story. I don't feel like this is the end of me," he declared, firmly.

Dane went public with his diagnosis in April 2025, and in his initial statement, he thanked his family for their unwavering support during this difficult chapter. He shares two daughters — Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13 — with his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart.
