Bobbie Mitchell and Husband’s Attacker Allegedly Stated His Intent to Harm
On April 21, Bobbie Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell, were victims of a brutal attack from their grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher. It left the Denton County commissioner critically injured, and her husband dead.
Early on Monday, April 21, police responded to reports of an ongoing attack at Bobbie’s home in the 1000 block of Springfield Drive, Lewisville.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by NBC, someone within Bobbie’s home had made the 911 call, who told the dispatcher someone had a knife in the house.
The call-taker also heard screams and what sounded like a struggle in the background. Upon arrival, the responding officer found a four-door vehicle parked outside the property, with the driver’s door left open and headlights still on.
He then heard screams coming from inside. When he entered the house, Mitchell was standing over Fred’s body as he bled severely beneath him. The 23-year-old was arrested and removed from the property.
Despite her injuries, which included a stab wound to the heart, Bobbie managed to tell officers that “her grandson broke into their house” and “stated he was going to kill them.”
Mitchell then allegedly headed to the kitchen to grab a knife and returned to their bedroom to begin his assault, which killed Fred. Fortunately, despite her injuries, Bobbie survived.
The blade was bent at a 90-degree angle when police retrieved it, indicating the sheer force he used to wield it on his grandparents. He is being charged with murder and aggravated assault, and remains in Denton County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
