Actress Sophie Nyweide Found Dead Near Riverbank — Police Investigate
The former child star was 24 and wasn’t alone when she died. As the investigation continues, new details have emerged, with police suspecting possible foul play.
During the early hours of Monday, April 14, Bennington Police and Rescue personnel were dispatched following reports of an unresponsive female along the banks of Roaring Branch River in Bennington.

They discovered the woman near a makeshift lean-to, and attempted life-saving measures before pronouncing her dead at 4:53 a.m. She was identified as former child star Sophie Nyweide.
A man was present with Nyweide at the scene, who is said to have made the 911 call and is cooperating with law enforcement. Police have launched an active investigation into Nyweide’s death and have been considering multiple causes, including foul play.

At the moment, the working theory is a possible unintentional overdose. Apart from the man found with Nyweide—who hasn’t been identified as a suspect or person of interest—police say there were others present at the lean-to before her death. They are currently working to locate and interview them.
People also obtained Nyweide’s death certificate, which revealed she was pregnant at the time of her passing. A source told the publication she was likely in the early stages of pregnancy.
