Rosie O'Donnell's Adopted Daughter Files for Name Change After Being Excluded from Her $80M Estate

According to an insider, the comedian's eldest daughter couldn't care less about her famous mother removing her from her will. The pair have had a tumultuous relationship for years.

Rosie O'Donnell has been feuding with Chelsea O'Donnell in public for a long time due to her addiction. The tension between the mother-daughter duo has recently escalated.

Reports revealed that Rosie decided to exclude Chelsea from her $80 million estate. The decision was reportedly made just days before the star uprooted to Ireland to start afresh.

However, 27-year-old Chelsea didn't take this lying down. In turn, she filed a petition to have her last name changed back to her birth mother Deanna Micoley's maiden name, Neuens.

The mother of five has since responded to her daughter's actions in the form of a poem on her Substack titled, "My Child Chelsea." Rosie said her child's choice to change her name "doesn't make sense" to her. She added:

"It's not about me/ i am here for her/ she's not here for me."

Despite Chelsea changing her name, Rosie said this wouldn't affect their bond. 'Same name or not/ that's my girl/ fierce and determined," the New Yorker penned.

Since the news made headlines, an insider has shed light on the dynamics between the legendary talk show host and her daughter. The source disclosed:

"Chelsea really didn't care that Rosie wrote her out. [...] For Chelsea it is not about the money, it's about feeling wanted and loved. And that's something she feels she has never really had from Rosie."

The insider further divulged that having access to money made it possible for the 63-year-old to send her child away to several boarding schools growing up.

According to the source, wealthy people can pay off people to bring up their children. While citizens from the middle or lower class step up for their kids. "They can't ship their kids off at the first sign of trouble," the source added.

In addition to the will exclusion, Rosie also cut Chelsea from two separate trusts after she was arrested for drug use more than once. The actress also had her child, whom she adopted in 1997, taken out of her life insurance policy.
