It was a breezy morning in Vatican City. Ahead of their arrival, staff were seen securing the red carpet to the cobblestone courtyard as strong gusts threatened to lift it.

The day began with a joint audience between the royal couple and Pope Leo inside the Apostolic Palace. King Charles joined Pope Leo for an ecumenical service held beneath the iconic ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, marking a rare moment of shared worship.
