Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, confirmed his death in a statement published through multiple outlets. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” the statement reads.
“‘Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together,” the message continued.
Jacqueline revealed to TMZ that Ike Jr. had faced severe heart issues for years and his health had been declining for some time. She also shared that he had suffered a stroke in early September.
Born on October 3, 1958, Ike Jr. was Ike Sr.’s son from his previous relationship with Lorraine Taylor. He was adopted by Tina at an early age and grew up amid his parents’ turbulent music careers.
After the former couple divorced in the late ‘70s, Ike Jr. briefly worked as Tina’s sound engineer before going on to help run his father’s recording company, Bolic Sound Studios. He stayed largely out of the spotlight, particularly in recent years, until his death.
