Prince Harry has broken his silence with a deeply personal response following a regulatory inquiry into his longtime charity, calling the ordeal "devastating," even as the investigation cleared him of any misconduct.

Prince Harry has issued an emotional statement following the outcome of an official investigation into Sentebale, the charity he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho nearly 20 years ago.

While the inquiry concluded there was no wrongdoing on his part, the Duke of Sussex says the damage to the organization's legacy has already been done.

On August 5, 2025, the Charity Commission for England and Wales released the findings of its probe into the charity, sparked by allegations raised by Sentebale's current chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka.

The watchdog reported that there was no evidence of "widespread or systemic bullying, harassment, misogyny or misogynoir" within the organization.

The Commission also found no evidence of "overreach" by either Dr. Chandauka or Prince Harry, 40, who stepped down as Sentebale's patron in March, citing a breakdown in internal leadership.

However, the regulator did not shy away from criticizing the organization's handling of internal disputes. It noted that allowing the conflict "to play out publicly" harmed Sentebale's reputation and could undermine broader public trust in the charity sector. The report also highlighted failures in governance and dispute resolution.

A source close to the former trustees and patrons said, "Both Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso are devastated by what has effectively been a hostile takeover by Sophie Chandauka.

"This was Prince Seeiso and Prince Harry's life work. They established it 19 years ago and in that time put in blood, sweat and tears and their own money into building this charity up to what it was: a multi-million pound charity that delivered nothing but good for the beneficiary community that is supported in Lesotho and Botswana," the source added.

The public fallout between Prince Harry and Dr. Chandauka became more visible earlier this year, when Harry announced his resignation and trustees departed amid an internal rift. Dr. Chandauka, who was appointed as chair in 2023, responded publicly, accusing former leadership of attempting to silence her efforts to expose governance issues.

She alleged a pattern of "poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir — and the cover-up that ensued," later stating she had dealt with people who "play the victim card."

Despite the Commission's findings clearing Prince Harry of any such behavior, its report faulted all parties for not resolving their differences privately. The Duke's response underscores his dismay at how the situation unfolded, and the lasting impact on a cause he and Prince Seeiso spent years building.
