The 66-year-old actor, who played interior designer Giorgio Barbieri in the season four finale, revealed in a new interview that he was fired from the Netflix series. Speaking to Vanity Fair Italia, Everett said producers gave him the impression that he would return.
"I did a scene in the latest season, and they told me, 'Next year we'll speak,'" he recalled. But the follow-up never came. "I waited for them to call me — but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me." Everett, whose career spans decades in film and theater, acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry.

According to him, producers frequently show initial interest, but their focus shifts during the writing phase. "They lose your character," he said, "I'm not sure why."
Everett admitted the decision had a deep emotional impact, calling it a personal setback that left him confined to bed for two weeks. He said it felt like a tragedy and that he struggled to get over it.
